Couple keep a family focus for their Wedding

11th December 2025

Samantha & Mike

10th September 2025

Family means everything to Samantha and Mike Johnson-Maxted. So, when it came to choosing a family-focused wedding venue, Lemmington Hall was the perfect fit for them.

Samantha says the stunning Georgian mansion felt like a homely and welcoming venue. And by the end of our two-night wedding experience, they felt like they were also part of the Lemmington Hall family.

“Of course, Lemmington Hall is beautiful with its impressive grounds and countryside setting,” Samantha explains. “But for me, I really liked the fact that it’s family-owned, and it’s a family home outside of the summer wedding season.

“Family for me is such a huge thing. I really like the fact that the owners were opening up their home for our happy memories. There was something special about getting married in someone’s home and just feeling so family-orientated. That, for me, was one of the biggest things.”

NOTES FROM THE COUPLE

Why did you choose Lemmington Hall?

Lemmington Hall was the second venue we viewed, and we stumbled upon it by accident. Mike was quiet during the viewing, but I was getting giddy and excited. The music was playing, the candles were lit, and it felt special as we explored all the spaces the venue had to offer. Mike just looked at me, smiled and I knew instantly that he loved the venue as much as I did! Mike then turned to Lynn, the Group Sales & Marketing Manager and asked if there was availability in early September! It aligned perfectly with what I imagined as our dream wedding venue!

Why did you choose a Summer Wedding?

Mike and I met during the first week of freshers’ at university, pretty much around 10th September approximately 10 years ago. It was fate that there was a date available so close to our 10-year anniversary meet date. Without hesitation we booked!

Did the venue live up to your Expectations?

Oh my goodness, it honestly did. Our families just loved it. It was perfect for both the night before celebration and on our wedding day. My brother loves a good whisky and was quite happy in a big armchair in the Adams Bar. My sister was captivated by the Grand Staircase; she took so many pictures of it. Then my mum was fawning over her room – the Widdrington Suite. The suite had window seats with gorgeous views of the grounds and she loved it. There was just a little something for everyone. Our guests couldn’t believe that we could get married there, especially as it was someone’s home! They got the same feeling we did when we first visited, and it was lovely watching their reactions as they explored the venue and grounds.

How did you find the Lemmington Team?

I really felt at home, which was mostly to do with the team and how friendly and supportive they all were. We arrived at 2pm the day before our wedding and our families joined us an hour or two later. We all enjoyed a night before rehearsal dinner which was lovely, before we kicked off our shoes and chilled together. The team said we should all just relax as it was our home for the next couple of days!

Why did you opt for the Dining Room for your Wedding Breakfast?

I know most couples choose the Forgotten Tower for their wedding breakfast. It’s a stunning space, rich in history, but I loved the natural light in the dining room. The room features three period windows, and the ceiling is decorated beautifully. The Forgotten Tower is perfect for larger parties but as we had a more intimate celebration with only 45 daytime guests, I felt the dining room suited us better. We chose to host our wedding ceremony in the Forgotten Tower instead, which was magical.

Tell us about your Wedding Breakfast?

The food was amazing. It was so good, and the kitchen team accommodated all our dietary requirements perfectly. Mike is coeliac and so are a few of his family members. We couldn’t believe how many gluten-free choices there were on the menu. And everything had to be nut free, as my brother-in-law has a severe nut allergy. It was so nice that we could eat without worry.

Is it right that someone stole your limelight?

Oh yes! Our little dog Yogi was absolutely fawned over. He even had his own photoshoot. To find a dog friendly wedding venue where Yogi could celebrate with us was also a huge bonus.

What’s your advice for Couples planning their Wedding?

I think you can get carried away with wedding planning and almost forget why you’re planning. I think if you plan a date night on the 12-month countdown that helps. We would have our date night and put that time aside to talk about the wedding. It meant we were more focused and weren’t talking about the wedding constantly. I’d also say enjoy it and have some fun, as it soon flies over. And I highly recommend taking your dog!
