Yorkshire couple choose Northumberland Wedding Venue
Rebecca & Oliver
3rd September 2025
Rebecca and Oliver Smith may live in Leeds, but they were happy travelling to Northumberland to find their perfect wedding venue.
With family across the globe, their choice was always going to be based on their wishes rather than venue location. And it was while Rebecca was scrolling Instagram that the stunning images of Lemmington Hall grabbed her attention.
“We wanted a venue that did everything,” explains Rebecca. “We didn’t want to have to worry about finding external caterers and we wanted somewhere that had appropriate accommodation for our families. We were looking for something different, too.
“Lemmington Hall came up on Instagram and as soon as I saw it, we booked the wedding open day because it looked so beautiful.” The trip up north wasn’t a problem for Rebecca and Oliver. As soon as they arrived at Lemmington, it was clear they’d found their dream wedding venue with the historic Forgotten Tower and luxurious accommodation.
NOTES FROM THE BRIDE
How did Lemmington Hall live up to your Expectations?
It blew our expectations out of the water! As we drove up the winding driveway, we just couldn’t believe that we’d managed to get a viewing for somewhere as stunning as Lemmington Hall. As soon as we arrived, the whole team were so welcoming and lovely. After viewing the venue and grounds, we felt it was right for us and our whole two-night summer wedding was amazing!
Was it the Perfect Wedding Venue for you?
It was. We reserved the date for our wedding on our first viewing at Lemmington and cancelled all the subsequent venue tours we had booked. We’d already looked at some venues before our visit and knew of venues that friends and family had used, but none were the perfect fit for us. As Lemmington is a new venue, none of our guests had been married there, it looked beautiful and we knew it was right.
Why did Lemmington Hall steal your Hearts?
We wanted something quite traditional and the fact that it was a historic wedding venue was a bonus. The 11th century Forgotten Tower really stood out. We’d never seen anything like that in a venue before, it was magical. We loved all the bedrooms, grounds and the grand staircase too – it ticked all our boxes!
Did you always Plan to get Married in Summer?
We were quite relaxed about what time of year we wanted to get married. But as Lemmington Hall is only available in summer, it was fine with us.
How did you find Lemmington’s Wedding Planning Team?
They were amazing, especially Beth. I spoke to her so much. I’d not long had my baby daughter, Gigi, and she was great at working around that and making me feel like I wasn’t losing my mind! I was messaging her at all hours; she was great and so supportive throughout the planning journey.
And was the Distance an issue during Planning?
Not at all, it was nice to get away! Whenever we needed to be at the venue, we just made a weekend out of it. We didn’t need to go to the venue for much, it was mainly the food tasting! The rest of the meetings planned took place over the phone, which worked well for me. When I told my parents that we had chosen a venue in Northumberland, they had a mixed reaction about distance! But as soon as they came and saw Lemmington Hall, they agreed it was a special place and well worth the journey for the two-night stay.
What were your Wedding Day Highlights?
It’s difficult as there were so many special moments. But we both said that the ceremony with the string quartet was our highlight of the whole day. Hearing them play as I walked down the stairs to go into the Forgotten Tower was amazing. Also, the food was delicious. It absolutely poured with rain on the day, but it didn’t matter because you can stay indoors and everyone was so well taken care of. A lot of our family and friends all said how amazing the staff were. We also loved dancing to the saxophone at our evening reception.
Top 3 tips for Couples Planning a Wedding?
1. Decide your wedding guest number before you view any venues, so you’re not looking at places too big or too small.
2. Make sure that you set a budget from the start. You’ll blow it out of the water, and you’ll never stick to it. But at least if you start with something, you can’t go too far wrong.
3. Enjoy the process. Try and make everything an event. From the visit to the food tasting, make a weekend out of it. And celebrate the run up to the actual wedding day!
